30 June - Sticker eyes

Tonight Grace was playing with her littlest pet shop animals, and as usual she had to remove the stickers from the little drink cans, and stick them everywhere else.

I was pretty impressed when after she went to bed,I was packing them up and noticed where she had placed the two round stickers.

Very precise.

29 June - Got 8 pockets in my overalls

If anyone remembers the Christian TV ad from long ago with the girl singing the song, then you will understand when I sing...

"Four on the front, two on the back, and two more in the everyday regular place....on the knees"

At least that's what the girl would be singing these days, if she were wearing these RIDICULOUS MENS jeans that I saw at KMart....

I mean, seriously, who needs that many pockets in one pair of jeans...

And who the hell WANTS at least 2 of the 8 pockets in knees... Unbelieveable

28 June - TurtleBob SpongeCushion

I'm just not sure I got that title right..

I am always raving about my ultra impressive "chef" pants that I wear around home ALL the time, but they are getting a bit old, and a bit short, and if I'm brutally honest...a little bit shit.
Today I found a potential replacement in the form of Spongebob pants. Just not sure I could walk into Hungry Jacks with these ones on, and pretend I was confident and NOT wearing pyjamas!

I also found a very very cool turtle pillow cushion, which of course I bought for Grace. Soon our house will be overrun by turtles. Tasmania will never let us back in!  ;-)

27 June - Cleaning

Tonight I was at Bunnings and got some tile grout cleaner, since the grout has always been a dark colour since we bought the house.

The stuff is MAGIC.... I actually thought the grout should have been a grey colour. But after cleaning, it's almost white. It's amazing how much better they look in the rooms I have done.

Only about half a house or so of tiles to go now.....  :-(

26 June - Graces Present

Grace is totally in love with a British TV show for kids called "Kipper the Dog", and always wants us to draw Kipper, Tiger, Pig and Arnold.

So we found a set of Kipper plush toys on eBay and ordered them as a part of her 2nd birthday present.
Amazingly they arrived to work yesterday, less than a week after ordering them from the UK.

They are awfully cute,I think Grace will love them.

25 June - That 70's girl

I'm starting to wonder if Grace should have been born in the 1970's with some of the habits she is developing.
This afternoon she wanted to watch Peppa Pig (and who could blame her, it's awesome) but decided the couch was not good enough to sit on. So she dragged her car over to her mat, and set herself up for some viewing. Just like the old drive-in movies that I grew up loving....

24 June - Sunday Funday

This morning we took advantage of the nice weather and spent some time outside where Grace finally got to try out the blackboard I put in the back of her playhouse.
She was pretty happy with drawing and then lined up the chalk in the rubber flooring like little soldiers as she realised they fitted really well.

This afternoon we went to Weston Creek to look at the Reject Shop and Aldi, hoping Grace wouldn't object to this Aldi store considering she hates the Queanbeyan store so much. Aldi had really cool metal ride on planes that Grace spotted and loved so we got one as we had been looking at ride on bikes.

She was so excited to get on it, she kept trying to climb aboard while I was building it, and even gave me a few encouraging hugs and pats on the back to speed things up a little!

23 June - cool girl

This morning we took a trip to the plaza to check out target as they had a fun day thingy there.

Grace decided she needed to wear her glasses but only while we were in the dark garage, as she took them off almost as soon as we drove out.

22 June - Copter......

Huge day today for Grace and I starting with a morning trip to KMart with Nathan, Cass and Maddie to check out the toy sale items.
On the way there we saw a helicopter landing, and Grace got so excited she talked about it the whole rest of the drive. Then she finally got to ride in the wiggles red plane outside KMart which she was pretty happy with.

Then this afternoon we went to the War Memorial with Claire and Hugh to see the Planes and Helicopters.
Grace and Hugh were both VERY impressed with them all. The dark photo is Grace sitting under the Lancaster Bomber. Pretty impressive.

I had been telling Grace she would be able to sit in a 'Copter' there so she was excited when we found it.
I'm pretty sure she was Yelling "Fire in the hole" as she pressed the buttons while I took the photo of her in the pilots seat.....but I may possibly have imagined that.

21 June - Funny but late

Ok, so it's a dodgy musical joke, it's not a photo I took myself, and it's a day late.

But it is a blog post and it is funny....(if you read music).

20 June - Still my baby girl

Tonight, because we were still changing her as we gave her a bottle, Grace decided she wanted to lay on the couch to have the bottle, and wouldn't let me hold it for her or help.

Ever since she was born, I have always given her a night bottle and put her to bed, so I was worried this was the beginning of the end for our evening cuddles and bottle.

But about 10 minutes after she went to bed, she started calling out to me. When I went in, she said she wanted her bottle. So she got up, and when I gave it to her, she pointed to the chair, and said "Daddy help". I sat, picked her up, and she snuggled in and had the rest of her bottle the 'usual' way.

I guess she just couldn't go without the nightly cuddles with her ol' Dad.
I know I was pretty happy to have that cuddle too! After all, she is still just my little baby. <3

19 June - Food issues

Tonight for tea I tried one of the CostCo Tom Yum Noodle bowls that Nathan so kindly gave me since (I eventually found out) he didn't like them!

I actually didn't mind the noodles (very very spicy) but I was a little concerned about the round plastic bowl shrinking into a pentagon shape when I removed it from the microwave!!!

And then as a snack later on, I opened up the second container of chocolate wafer sticks that we got from CostCo also. And for the second time I was baffled why there were just two wafer sticks in a plastic wrapper, while the rest are just in the container.
Its really odd.

18 June - New Cabinet

Tonight I bought a new TV cabinet from CostCo. I was highly impressed that they wouldn't help me get it into a trolley or my car, as it's against OHS policies. Very helpful. Thankfully Nathan came over and helped me bring it inside from the Ute. Thanks Nathan!
So then I spent all night building the stoopid thing, to not get it adjusted exactly how I want it, since one of the brackets cannot possibly be used where it needs to go due to the ridiculous design. Bloody American garbage...
And now that it's all done, neither of us are sure if we even like it...SHEESH.

17 June - Plane spotting and heaven

Another morning of garden pebbles, and now the areas we wanted to pebble are finished. Unfortunately, the pebbles are not. I over ordered by A LOT. Thankfully, Nathan came and helped me finish it, and move the excess pebbles off the driveway. So now at least I can get my car out of the garage.

This afternoon, we met Cass, Nathan and Maddie at Costco for lunch and a shop, followed by some plane spotting at the airport. We spent an hour watching planes and chasing Maddie around. Maddie was pretty excited to get in the back of our car, as long as Leah or I were in there with her and kept the door shut. While Grace spent the whole time with Cass in their car!

Finally tonight I went to 7-11 to get a coffee and Krispy Kreme, since they now sell them.
It's been a while since I've had Krispy Kremes, but God I was impressed to see the cabinet with them in there.....

16 June - Too much Gravel

This morning we had 2 cubic metres of decorative gravel delivered, which meant the rest of the day was sorted.

The rain didn't impress me much, but we still got a lot of the areas we wanted gravelled finished.

Unfortunately we also have a LOT of gravel left in the driveway, and not a lot of places to put it.

I think I over estimated the amount we would need.

Oops

15 June - Kite

Tonight after work we decided there seemed to be enough wind to finally try Graces butterfly kite, so we went up to the oval to give it a go.

I did manage to get it in the air for a few very short seconds, which Grace was pretty impressed with.
But there really wasn't enough wind after all.

Leah did get a nice arty shot of us with the sunset in the background that I quite like.

14 June - Pinterest

So the growing phenomenon that is Pinterest is very very slowly getting me.
Leah is totally addicted to it and has been trying for weeks to get me addicted to.
But I just can't. I don't mind having a look at it, but i dont feel an addiction. With some of the delicious food ideas, i mostly just feel hungry.

13 June - The Cool Kid

I think Grace is trying to match it with the cool kids.

She is so rad, man, I think she may have been hangin' with Nathan a little too much lately.  ;-)

12 June - Growing up fast

Today when Leah mentioned something about the photo mugs that they sell at Officeworks,I took a photo of my mug to send.

Even though I use the mug every day, it hasn't occurred to me just how young Grace looked in the photo.

She is growing up way to fast.....

11 June - Long Weekend

For the last day of the long weekend, I admit I didn't get so much ticked of my list.
But we did get our computers backed up, some shopping done, furniture rearranged, some plane spotting at the airport, and got ours and Cass and Nathans Apple TV fixed.
So I guess all in all, a fairly productive day.

In the middle of all that, I also attached the new ladder to the trampoline. Which of course meant Grace had to have a bounce.
This photo was taken with her bouncing above and trying to kiss me through the trampoline mat.

10 June - List Day 2

More items ticked off my list today.

This afternoon I cleaned out the garage cupboards and storage.
After I had tidied, I built a high shelf above the rear door and we organised some other shelving for storage in the corner as well.

In the meantime, Grace showed off her musical skills with a bit if drumming and singing.
Nice to see some musical interest there...

9 June - The List

For a while now I have been asking Leah to make me a list of the things we need to do around home, so I can plan and get them all done.
So for the long weekend, Leah gave me a list. I must admit it was not nearly as long as I expected, so I was pleasantly surprised.

This morning I managed to knock off a couple of the very easy and quick items which I was happy with.

While I did it Grace had a play in the playroom. At one stage she decided the tupperware container would make a nice hat.

This afternoon I started on the more serious items from the list, and got the framework for Graces Zoo toy storage finished. The whole time, Grace stood over me, watching, and scribbling on the back of some sandpaper, like a little note taking Nazi Foreman. It was very funny to see. Lucky she was ok with 'sharing' the pen.
Hopefully, my workmanship passed!

And finally we went and got a ladder for the trampoline, which contributed to my top photo. Which is the 3cm gouge out of my leg, that just feels wonderful right now....

8 June - Dropbox and Me

After Leahs hassles with trying photo stream on icloud yesterday, I thought I would give the auto upload feature of dropbox a go.
Works much the same as photo stream on the iPhone. As soon as I take a photo on my phone, it uploads automatically to dropbox and then syncs with my work laptop and our home computers as well.
A very handy way to backup the photos.

In an attempt to match my blog photo of Leah from yesterday,I thought I would test it with a self portrait.

Not sure this is really the photo we want to sync across all of our devices...I had to touch it up just to make it publishable...

7 June - My gorgeous Wife

When I told Leah I didn't have a photo for tonights blog, she offered to model a few poses for me.

This is the best shot by far.

I just love it!

6 June - 22 Months today

Its pretty scary to think that Grace is 22 months old today. Only two more until she officially hits the terrible twos, though I think after the couple of tantrums we have had this past week, we could think she has already reached that milestone though!

Tonight when we got home, I noticed some catalogues in the letterbox and asked Grace if she wanted to check it for me.
So on her 22 month anniversary, she reached another milestone of her first checking of the mail. The way she uses our iPad, I'm sure it won't be long before that's email she is checking...

The only problem was she got really really excited, as she was convinced there was going to be a turtle in there! I hate to think how disappointed she must have been to only find a water bill, and some catalogues...

5 June - Rope part 2

So here they are. I'm sure you have been on the edge of your seats, and slept precariously on the edge of your bed (if you have even slept, such is the anticipation of what I'm doing with my rope) since reading last nights blog.
Well, wait no longer, sigh in relief that you might get some sleep tonight (if you are not thinking about how incredible me and my rope tying escapades are) and check out the photo below.

I hardly have to tell you what the awesomeness is, but just in case...its a turtle and a heart necklace.

Not what you were expecting I'm sure? But undoubtedly the coolest thing you have seen so far in 2012....right?

4 June - Rope

Yesterday I bought some rope.
Its red. Kind of shiny. I like it.
I'm looking forward to using it.
You will just have to wait and see what my rope and I have planned....

3 June - Big day out

We has a scheduled power outage today from 8:30 until 3:00. That's right, the braniacs at the power company thought that shutting off the power all day on a Sunday would be a good idea for us families in a residential street. Retards.

Anyway, no power meant no lights, hot water or heating, which also meant a good excuse for an early start and breakfast at the shops.
Except of course, its Sunday and nowhere opened until 10am. Thanks again Power retards.

But I did manage a trip to the tip where they have a new e waste program. Dropping of TV's, computers, monitors, etc no longer costs a fortune, but is free.
I was amazed at the number of things already there, cling wrapped and ready for whatever they now do with them. Burn them or something equally as eco friendly I guess...

Then lunch at the park, where Grace and I had fun on the swings. Well,I had fun, and Grace watched in awe of her dad. Or disappointment. Or shame. Or embarrassment. I'm not sure which.

Finally we dropped in to see Cass and Nathan and Maddie, mainly so I could laugh, mock and stir Nathan for his building skills as he worked on a zoo for Maddies toys. Except it looks good, and he WAS using the correct tools. I think I even saw a tape measure! So no mocking, laughing or stirring.

When we finally made it back home, the power was back on, heater running, and everything as normal. So SCREW YOU POWER RETARDS....we had a great day out, and you didn't bother us one bit.

2 June - So much better than Coke

Not a lot more to say really.
Drinking a can of Pepsi tonight, and it occurred to me how awesome it is....mmm

1 June - Crossing over

In the war between Mac and PC I have always used the trusty PC, whilst admitting that Macs are pretty impressive and probably better in a lot of ways.
But today, after a little research, Leah and I crossed over, and bought our first Mac.
Considering how well the new Macs integrate with Apple TV, iPhones and iPads, it seemed the logical choice for a home computer.
I hope we aren't disappointed!
